The CSCE Follow-up Meeting in Vienna (1986-1989) was the climax of the CSCE-process, that started in 1975. The overall project deals with the negotiations at Vienna and asks for the impact the conference had on the end of the East-West Conflict, while keeping a special focus on the humanitarian dimension and the aspect of military security. As a part of this project, the PhD project focuses on the German-German dimension of the conference, analysing the distinctive conflicts between the two German states and their diplomatic relations during the Follow-up Meeting.

The overall project is a cooperation between the Leibniz Institute for Contemporary History, the University of Hildesheim, the University of Innsbruck and the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies Geneva, being financed by the German Research Foundation, the Austrian Science Fund and the Swiss National Science Foundation.
